| 3/2/09 COBRAS President Article “Well, We’re Off and Running, Make That, Riding” Our first board meeting off 2009 came off well with only a few changes in upcoming year; I wish to thank all of the members who attended and made it a spirited and enjoyable afternoon. You can read all about it in Secretary Vicki Norman’s minutes by clicking here. The first Championship Series race, the Frostbite TT is March 7th in Ft. Collins, the deadline for registration is the 5th so get registered. In order to make the learning curve a little easier, we’ve added a “New Member Orientation Booklet” to the services we provide to new members…you can view it by clicking here. If you know a prospective new member have them contact Jim Leach our Membership chair. Coach Christie Hanson has posted a complete schedule of extra training rides that include a great skills clinic, TT training (starts, sprints and intervals), plus evenings at Cherry Creek to re-familiarize us on the course and it’ s complexities. Christie’s nutrition tips, weight lifting &, bike training schedule and calendar are well thought out and very useful, if you’ve not looked at them, you’re missing out. To stay updated on COBRAS races, training days and other events be sure to use our website which is well maintained by Webmaster meanmac Milleur. The weather is great and giving us a wonderful opportunity to get in shape early for the first races of the season, so get outside and get riding! Keith Renninson President |
| 5/6/09 COBRAS President E-Mail Hey COBRAS, We've got some fun stuff planned for the next week: 1. This is the weekend for our night at the Boulder Velodrome...here is the address: 3550 Frontier Avenue, Suite A . Boulder, CO 80301 . 303-CYCLING (303.292.5464) We were initially told this would be free, but they do charge $10 for the 2 hour lesson, the use of their bicycles and the facility, so it's still very inexpensive. Remember to bring cycling clothing, helmets, and most importantly, your pedals and shoes. 2. Afterwards, we will be having dinner at Carelli's at: 645 30th ST Boulder CO 80303 303-938-9893...each one attending will pay for their own dinner this isn't a club paid for event. (Next week the post-KHMTT will be paid for. Spouses, girlfriends, significant other's welcome to join us for the evening. It's been a while since we first planned this event, so if you all would please RSVP once again to Keith. I will forward the numbers the Velodrome and the restaurant. This should be a lot of fun and I hope many of you will attend. 3. The post-KHMTT party for the club and non-COBRAS workers is May 13th & will be held at Darcy's Bistro on Ulster just north of Belleview, west side, near Panera's. It's an Irish pub with similar cuisine to that of O'Shea's where we had last year's party. This will start at 7:45 and we have reserved the party room to accommodate our group...thanks to Mary and Vicki. The club will be picking up the tab on this one! Have questions...call or email me. Thanks, Keith Renninson President |
